Get to Know Me

Hello, I'm Anthony Bonner, your aquatics coach!

A little about me...I was born on the gulf coast island city of Galveston, TX, where at the age of three, my father began teaching my siblings and me the importance of safety and

how to thrive around water.

So at an early age, I quickly took to swimming and it became the vehicle that helped me to develop my neural and motor skills and reinforced positive work habits which became foundational to my success as an athlete.

I went on to compete in high school where I won awards in:

1M Diving

3M Diving

200 Freestyle Relay

200 Individual Medley Relay

400 Freestyle Relay

In college, I went on to compete nationally at Northeast Louisiana University where I was recognized as an All Conference swimmer and diver.

Since that time, I have dedicated my life to helping teach people of all ages

how to thrive in the water.

FAQ's

Serve Me a Question - I’ll Volley You an Answer

Home: FAQ

Why private lessons when I can put my child in a swim school?

While I offer both individual and group lessons, the attention that individual lessons provides, allows children and adults to build confidence much quicker in the water.

The individual attention of private lessons helps kids to focus much easier than in group lessons at swim schools. Also, private lessons shortens the amount of time it takes for children to learn basic survival skills in the water, providing their parents invaluable peace of mind as their kids interact around water.

For adults, my experience has been that many times they are uncomfortable in groups and prefer a much more custom approach that helps them build confidence much quicker in the water.

Do I need to be at a certain athletic level to train with Coach Bonner?

No, I have experience and am comfortable working with all skill levels. The only requirement is a willingness to learn and desire to build confidence in the water.

How is Coach Bonner different from other coaches?

Swimming has been my passion since I was 3 years old. I competed and was a top swimmer in high school and college, and for the last 20 years I've been teaching all ages from toddlers to competitive swimmers to senior citizens how to be safe and have fun in the water.

Because of my years of experience, my approach is a little different in that I'm not just focused on improving clients skills in the water, but I have a "Safety First" motto that also stresses the importance of being accountable and responsible in the water.

At the same time, my skills training allows clients to see results quickly, thus ultimately saving them time and money over the long-term.

I'm an intermediate to advanced swimmer and just want to get better, can you help me improve?

Yes. I have trained competitive individual swimmers and teams, so no matter your level, I can work with you to improve in the water.

Do I need to be at a certain athletic level to train with Coach Bonner's Swim School?

Enter your answer here. Be thoughtful with your answer, write clearly, and consider adding examples.

Do I need to have a pool to work with Coach Bonner?

No. While it is my preference to use a private pool, I have access to several pools throughout the DFW area. Please feel free to contact me directly to discuss the best location for us to meet.
